OK so this will be my last entry using this format for my blog...I'm attempting to switch to a wordpress blog so you can leave comments etc.

So the week ending photo clearout is such:

so here is 2,0 flirting with the crazy gypsy in Bornheim. I don't think his heart was really in it though...He was just getting revenge on Steph for that time she was flirting with that Canadian dude...

Were you shooting from the hip here ;)

I love statues!!!

In my continuing effort to learn Italian I watched the movie 'Delicatessen' in Italian with english subtitles...It's a French movie from the early 90's, and I really really liked it.
So far the Italian isn't really sticking yet...

The great burnout of '08...
So last night there was a fire in the building. Nothing like a little panic to bring the neighbours together...We heard the alarm and then panic as people started ringing every doorbell in the building to tell everyone else to evacuate.
Me not thinking anything of it. Grab my PC, camera, put on fresh socks take my time, and as I come down to the bottom my neighbour says something like ''du bist ganz cool''...I do my usual confused look when I'm trying to translate and he says again in english ''you are so cool''. OK...I was just trying to have a glass of wine and watch a movie...I didn't realize it was an actual situation. I figured someone just burned thier pizza or something...
anyways the fire trucks arrive and it doesn't seem like they're going to let anyone back in for a while, so after calling several people to try to find a place to stay (it's after midnight by now) Julia and I just got a hotel. A single bed which was not comfy.
we're back, and I'm not sure anyone else is yet.

apparently someone died...he probably didn't realize last christmas was his last...so there's the lesson learned...
Party like it's 1999, be excellent to one another, what's so great about peace, love and understanding?
Enjoy your friends and family like they won't be here next year this time...

2,0: Have you ever heard of blah blah blah?
me: no
2,0: that's cuz you're an unsuperior being.
this was at pub quiz and even though 2,0 invented the word unsuperior we still managed to win...Our team name ,,Monkies with slingshots''...the team name the quizmistress heard ,,Monkey with cling shots''...which might be funny in it's own right...didn't matter. Winner!!!

email thread...
saffa: Not even God knows what Squires means sometimes!!!!!!
kat: ya, but he spoke aramaic.
me: lalalalalalaayayayayayayayalalalalalalalalalalalalalyyiiiiiiiaiiaiiayayyaya
kat: squires, you have to put the predicate in the latter part of the compound sentence. almost grammatical well formed though. well done! ;-)
see, i have to read in order to speak it. ;-)

my English was corrected by a German colleague today. One colleague asked me how to ask for a favour in an email...My suggestion was something like "can you help me by...blah blah blah".
Other colleague overhears and says "use could instead of can...it's more polite"...
so I pose the question to you dear English speakers...Is could really more polite than can????

The word ,,queue'' must be one of those mysterious English words that all the non-native english speakers complain about...apparently english as a second language is difficult...who knew ;)

also mysterious...why brenden fraser keeps getting work...and why sean young ever got work...

These city shots seem so obvious...every tourist who ever came to Frankfurt has probably taken the same ones, but I kind of like them anyways...

julia: you can't complain
joe: When do I ever complain?
julia: You don't complain, but you make a face...

so I saw Clinton and Claire off to the airport. Also caught up a bit with Big Ben this weekend. Was great to reconnect with two old friends (and two of the favourite people I've met in Europe)...

Ben seems to have a new admirer in that last one ;)

also bought an Alfred Hitchcock DVD tonight...going to watch it soon...

Elvis (as played by Bruce Campbell in Bubba Ho-Tep): "The two key words for tonight are ,,caution'' and ,,flammable''.

I found out that weihnachtsmarkt actually means something like ,,holy night''. I thought it was wine night. Silly me!!! I could really get behind a holiday called wine night...oh well. I shall continue to drink gluhwein and think of it was wine night...

the sweets at the ,,wine night market'' are incredible. I'm getting fat...

speaking of getting fat...I finally got the bike I bought in March working. My secondary bike that had broken spokes was taken away by the German authorities when the wine night market was set up...Since the spokes were broken I wasn't riding it and just left it locked up on a bike rack for about 3 weeks. They probably put up a sign that said something like ,,this bike rack will be removed on x date'', but since I was just leaving the bike sitting I didn't notice the sign and so they just removed my bike and rack...anyways so I was forced to fix the new bike, and now it's fixed...so I'm back to riding to work, but it's bloody cold in the mornings...

Clinton and Claire are visiting from the UK.
It took us an hour and a half to walk home from Balalaika the other night...uhhh. yeah. an adventure no doubt...
