Mate…your music choices offend me…

I think I may have seen Ronald McDonald trying to be surly today…unfortunately Ronald McDonald was about 9 years old and his head (with the finest Fro in Europe) probably weighed as much as the rest of his body. Some car cut him close in the crosswalk (the drive was probably scared for his life because a huge orange ball was about to walk in front of his car, causing who knows what kind of damage)…anyways Ronald apparently tried to flip the car off and stare car down, but it all ended up to be a half heartened attempt….I felt sorry for the kid….

Did someone just defend the Stone Temple Puppets by talking about “how many number ones they had”. This somehow ties into the Lionel Ritchie song that you had hidden on my external drive….mate…I had to listen to “hello” today cuz I couldn’t be arsed to get up and change it….it was like being at the Dentist…

You also have Creed? Defend that one please….no really….go on…..

They’re blowing up Scotland

Having one last weekend with Dad at “The Irish Pub Bornheim” worst name for an irish pub ever!!! anyways…we still go there….
Four Bulmers gets you a free t shirt…I somehow managed to get 3 free t shirts this weekend…some of the waitresses are willing to bend the rules a bit…

Dad’s still a jerk for leaving us….we will still miss his sorry ass….

Lunchtime today:
So matt’s text was something along the lines of “they’re blowing up Scotland”
dad, Kat and I happened to be together so we all got the text at the same time…
Squires: uhhhhh…this is old news…
kat: Yeah Matt doesn’t read the news
Squires: Uhhh lets send matt a text with news….
Kat: Let’s all send him texts….

Ok, so we did….

First round

Kat: Kim John Il has nuclear weapons
Squires: Abe Lincoln has been assassinated
Dad: Joan of Arc has been burned at the stake….

We got no response, so we waited ten minutes, then decided we needed to send two texts each….

Dad: Queen Elizabeth has given birth to a son named Charles
Squires: Chelsea Wins the premiership
Kat: hitler annexed Austria

then another

Dad: (OK I don’t remember this one, but I’ll find out…)
squires: England has won the World Cup
Kat: Marie Antoinette was beheaded…

Matt still hasn’t responded….He’s obviously spinning with all the news we just gave him….Who says Aussies are too easy going….read the bloody news mate…John HOward is your PM….at least I know that much….

Spent time today listening to new (to me) Music….Lali Puna and the Cooper Temple Clause….both quality….thanks to whoever gave them to me (I’m guessing Sanne). Also listening to Floaters Live at the Alladin (Sanne again – how did I get music of a Portland band from a German???)….Not sure why I didn’t bring any floater CD’s or MP3’s with me…that was dumb….Lots of music I didn’t bring but should have….idiot!!!!

Apfelwein express

Watched the Big Lebowski today. Brilliant movie. I saw it once a long time ago and didn’t like it, but like all Coen brother films it is great, and usually better after the first viewing.

Everyone loves a tourist….Last night did the ex-pat tourist thing with the company matt works for. We go on the brightly colored trolly and bought apfelwein and got to see Frankfurt….funny how little of Frankfurt I’ve actually seen. It was a slightly educational trip, and fun because the company on board was OK. I didn’t mingle (no reason to hang out with ex-pats – Why did the american writer woman keep talking to me….I don’t really care that you want to move to France and write a novel – can’t you tell that when I turn away from you to talk to my friends that I’m not interested in your life story).

Matt, Wil, Saffa, annoying bird, and me

Matt (oz), Saffa (South Africa) and Will (brit) were onboard so it was all good. We got off at Sudbahnhof(f) and went to dreikoenigskeller . Saw an old time blues singer. His music was classified as “Pre War Blues 1920’s Calypso”…How could you not go check that out. http://www.myspace.com/cwstoneking
we were joined there by Sanne, Kat, Singer Phil, and his friend (Carol?) who is flying to London today.

Saw two great bands there in the past week. So nice to have decent live music. nice to have friends to enjoy the music with.
here’s the other band I saw http://www.sofasurfer.ch/putsmarie/ if anyone wants MP3’s let me know. I bought both albums.

Modest Mouse June 10th…….the music situation has turned positive of late…I have tickets in hand and the following day off.

Apparently america was conquered sometime last week….america is very happy :>)

Off soon to meet Saffa and Matt at the Borse…outdoor food and wine court on the steps of the old stock exchange…Summer Friday ritual…Life is great…last night was great! Today is great!
this weekend….street festival outside…standing outside amongst the food courts with friends….watching the people go by…

ugh…

Sick sick sick. 5 hours of sleep for about 4 weeks in a row and somehow I’m not getting any healthier…Must be Pneumonia. I think my colleagues are worried.
Good thing someone invented red bull and diet pills. ***hands shaking uncontrollably***

Drinking French wine alone.
Staying in tonight to cure myself.

still listening to Modest Mouse album. egads.

Monty Mouse

Watched Monty Python (Grail). Classic…at Matt’s flat.
If you own the DVD watch the scenes that were translated into Japanese then shown with subtitles…I know it sounds weird, but it’s hilarious.

Also off work today so listened to the last modest Mouse album about 3 times.

Black Dahlia?!?

Sunday night. Saw the Black Dahlia today. It was OK I guess. The ending got a little weird. Not as weird as Perfume, so compared to Perfume the ending makes perfect sense. My fault for being confused.

Listening to Son House. I find myself listening to strange music now that I’m here. I guess it’s my own fault for being selective about what CD’s I brought over with me. I left a bunch behind, but I grabbed some weird stuff I hadn’t listened to for years and years.
