It doesn’t matter how boring it is, I just have to post something…
So Wednesday was a holiday (Random Holiday Generator – beepboopbeep…bllliiiiiiiiiiippp….Immaculate conception…awesome!!!)
Random holiday generator can only mean Tuesday is a big night…it started with raw sausage (yeah…it’s a local specialty I’m told) and ended with me crashing at a friends…in between there was cooked meat…a horribly halfhearted smash-stab attempt in the street, followed by some dude getting slapped in the street by some cuban girl, and then we visited a possible mafia hangout ;).
People seemed to be angry on Tuesday night…luckily I was only a witness…but it was pretty funny!
Here’s the raw pig…
Also went to a cafe show with Daniele and Leo. The guy was really really good. I’ve seen two cafe shows and both times the guitarist exhibited his (Italian) mastery of pedals. This guy had a suitcase full of pedals for a solo show. They are fond of effects that loop a riff so they can solo.
There’s still something a bit fake to it for me…but he was quite good and playing solo so I’ll forgive him. After the show I was kind of depressed because he was playing only covers and I had to wonder why he wasn’t playing his own stuff. It was sad that he couldn’t get a gig playing his own stuff…or maybe he chose not too…
Other than that there’s nothing…Berger is coming for a visit end of the month. I wonder how long until he starts asking where he can buy fireworks 😉
Also a great week for American politics…Bernie Sanders is my hero…If I ever have to live in the states again I hope it’s Vermont.
Putin calls for Assange to get the Nobel…classico!!! I assume it’s Hillary with the tough stance. If they want to make a martyr of Assange (by that I mean any attempt at prosecution) I don’t think it will bode well for America. By their hypocrisy they’ve already lost face. No more credibility on human rights, free press, dissident persecution, no more lecturing Iran, no more lecturing China, no more lecturing Russia etc…I assume Obama will overrule Hillary (I’m not sure what I’m basing that on) and pullback a bit…
I’d love to have some great music to post here, but unfortunately I only have a great song attached to a controversial video…you probably won’t like this unless you’re a MM fan…
Hey no dead, just because I love you. Its A mother thing. Listen to your dad about raw meat.there are all kinds of diseases raw meat can carry…Jb’s dad was a butcher so he has a little experiance with this. and the only raw meat he will eat is extremely hi quality beef, not taken to the bone, some fish, and live shooter oysters…love mom
so if I don’t eat raw meat I’ll live forever 😉
The oysters we had were live. I think the beef is fine. They’ve been preparing it like that for hundreds of years here…but of course you’re right. There can be disease or worms (in any food).
I wonder if the meat is just fresher here…Meaning the priority favours quality rather than making the lowest cost food.
So instead of raising beef far far away in a cheaper state and shipping it for days (cuz that’s cheaper) they raise it locally. I’ve no idea if that’s the case I just wonder if that has anything to do with it.
Either way I will trust the italians…if I drop dead tomorrow you can tell all your friends that it was cuz I ate raw meat…you could start an organization or something 😉
Please lower my worry level and stop eating raw meat.
You always told me as a kid that I had to try at least one bite of the foods I was served ;). Trying new foods one of the great joys of travelling (and living abroad). It’s only rarely that I eat raw meat, and only when the italians order it. You’ll be relieved to know that I’m not overly fond of it in general, but I will continue to try new things when they’re offered…Oysters are about the only things so far that I will definitely say no to in the future. ick!
Hot Butter, lemon juice, and a shake of cayanne pepper or jb won’t even eat unless they’re on the half shell. eating them alive cracking a shell with a knife, must be about like swollowing a live gold fish, a great stunt that should have died out in the 50’s..
ps frome mom: you have selective memories…and since when have you ever listened to me LOL
Pss : frome jb….check out the wierd food chef on the web….imagine his job….YUCK!!!
I think the lemon juice stuns them…I didn’t see or feel any movement. The ones I had were on the half shell. Have you ever tried them?
no, they look wierd…i cant even get near to nans oyster casserole jb katie and bob made me try a bite a couple of years ago….. i don’t know about your dad…
“Trying new foods one of the great joys of travelling (and living abroad).”
I’m sorry…is this coming from the same person that ate at the Irish pub and Joeys for nearly his entire existence in Frankfurt? You’re taking the Michael my friend.
well…I must fail miserably in my retort Tommy…
I tried a lot of German “delicacies” when I was there (btw do you think the Germans know their cuisine is crap?). Just because when we were hanging out it happened to be in an Irish joint (cuz you’re the pickiest eater of all time) or at someones house the choices were limited….
OK there’s 2 caveats already
1) German food sucks!
2) it’s hard to eat with you 😉
I better keep it simple so as to avoid some attempt at grandiosity only to end in….”huhwha!!!”….
Have I lost anyone but me yet 😉
When we were hanging out there were usually no Germans amongst us, but at work or people’s houses I tried a lot of german food. I had a German family x-mas dinner with lots of food cooked by old people, I’ve tried blood sausage (only parallelled in it’s crappiness by the irish equivalent), I’ve had that weird onion cake they’re fond of. I’m not even going to mention the paulaner schnitzel (d’oh!) which is possibly the greatest food germany can produce 😉
anyways, those are the meals I remember. The weird stuff with Germans…Since I’m only hanging out with Italians (in their homes) here they force the stuff on me that I couldn’t find in an Irish pub. While I freely admit that I love joey’s and I’d really like a hamburger once in a while I still stand by my statement.
I also freely admit that I’m very hesitant to try something new at a restaurant. I will try something new if someone else has ordered it and they offer, but I don’t want to spend money on some kind of weird food I’ve never had. That’s usually a bad gamble. At a mates house if I try something and don’t like it then I can trust that someone else will gladly take mine.
Umm i only ate with you like 2 or 3 times so i clearly wasn’t talking about eating with me…ergo…all your arguments based on my eating habits are rubbish. In fact, i took you to a German restaurant around the corner from your house and it was the first time you’d been!
I’m talking about all the other times, when you would text or email that you were on the way to the irish for lunch/dinner/breakfast or wanted me to pick up buger king on my way over…or your countless joeys nights…or when you found pizza.de. I stand by my statement…you’re full of sh!t 😉
